This page will give you an insight into the schemes we operate.
Drive Check
The Drive Check provides you with the opportunity to have your driving ability assessed by an IAM observer. This is a one-off drive whereby the observer will comment on and discuss your driving performance with you, offering advice, driving tips and making recommendations where appropriate.
At the end of the drive, you will be given a copy of the observer's report including a checklist covering any aspects of your driving requiring attention.
Skills for Life
The Skills for Life scheme which entitles the associate (you) to:

"Advanced Driving the essential guide" book

Your initial assessment

Test Preparation where you will be coached to understand and eventually use the System of Car Control

Entry to the Advanced Driving Test (a 90 minute drive accompanied by an IAM appointed examiner)

IAM Associate status with an automatic upgrade to IAM membership on passing the test within one year
When you start your assessment runs, you will receive informal, yet structured advice and guidance provided by the group's fully trained voluntary Observers who will accompany you in your vehicle during the assessment sessions. They will be assisting you to develop your driving skills to make good and safe progress. As part of that you will also understand the systematic approach to driving hazards, sympathetic car handling; better observation and good planning technique.
